If I could travel to someplace in the United States I would go to Los Alamos, New Mexico. That is one of the sites of the Manhattan Project. The Project was started by Albert Einstein when he signed the famous Einstein–Szilárd letter. I have always been interested in WW II weapon technology and that would be an experience for me. If you were not sure, the Manhattan Project was the government funded development of the first atomic bomb. A common misconception is that the Manhattan Project was not done in Manhattan. The reason that I am interested in this and want to go there is because I am interested in physics and I wanted to know how it works. It would not be too difficult to get there.
The way I could get there is to take a plane from Washington D.C. to Albuquerque. From there I would drive to Los Alamos. The weather in Los Alamos is usually sunny but it can be cloudy, or anything else. The only thing that I would need for this trip is clothes and normal luggage. The things that I would like to see are of course the no longer functioning military facility. Other than that I would like to meet some of the local people and see what they are like.
