Police Corruption

One of the main issues in Jude by Kate Morgenroth was police corruption in cities.
According to an article I found in the CBS Interactive Business Network, Los Angeles has one of the worst police corruption problems in the United States. After cities like New York and Waco came forward with counts of police corruption and police brutality, multiple allegations has resulted in what they call “the worst police scandal since the 1930s. One officer in particular was a center of a major account, Officer Rafael Perez. He was report of stealing $1 million worth of cocaine from the evidence room. The court lightened his sentence when he told them about another incident when he and another officer “handcuffed an unarmed teenager, shot him in the head, planted a rifle near his body, and then claimed it as self-defense.” The victim, Javier Ovando, then served 23 years in prison after being paralyzed from the assault. I got this article from www.bnet.org. In my opinion I find my topic interesting to read about although I do not agree with the police in the article. The unnecessary violence of the American cities should be helped and hopefully stopped in some cities.
